Despite Dangers, SoCal Drivers Trek to Tijuana for Cheap Gas Fix

Tijuana residents whine to Reuters about the influx of Southern California motorists to Tijuana gas stations, which have experienced gas shortages and rationing due to the increased volume. The tension experienced by motorists, many of whom wait in line for hours to fill up, has culminated in shouting matches and fisticuffs between Mexican and U.S. motorists. The daily drug cartel-related shootings in Mexican border towns do little to safeguard the peace.
To these Tijuana residents’ complaints, I have this to say: Isn’t it annoying when someone who isn’t even a citizen of your country uses your country’s resources? Isn’t it frustrating to know that as soon as Southern Californians fill their gas-guzzling tanks up with your government-subsidized gas, thereby saving hundreds of dollars a month, they’ll head right back across the border with their hard-earned money? Don’t you wish they’d just stay where they came from? Don’t you miss the days where you could fuel up at your local gas station without waiting two hours in line for a pump?
Turnabout is fair play.
