Jihadists are learning how to prey upon the politically correct American liberals. They understand, at least on some basic level, that they must assimilate in order to infiltrate the realms of the non-believers they plan to eradicate. Jihadists are starting to wage war on the terms of the typical liberal activist. It’s like they’re reading from the same playbook. How many of these tactics do you recognize?

1. Incite guilt over ‘innate prejudices’. They’ve already invented two words to make Americans shudder at their own innate prejudices, ‘Islamophobia’ and now ‘Iranophobia’. You know, like ‘homophobia’ and ‘heterophobia’. Let’s not even get started on racism or affirmative action.

TEHRAN, April 20 (Reuters) - Iran accused U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice of “Iranophobia” on Sunday for trying to blame Tehran for Iraq’s security problems.

Rice said last week she would press Iraq’s Arab neighbours at a meeting on Tuesday in Kuwait to do more to support Baghdad’s government and shield it from Iran’s “nefarious influences”. Iran, as a neighbour of Iraq, will also attend the gathering.

“Regarding Rice’s statements, these statements are not something new. American officials follow the policy of Iranophobia,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ali Hosseini told reporters in a weekly news conference.

News flash, friends. A phobia is an irrational fear, a psychological anxiety disorder. I don’t think any American official, or sane American citizen, fears Islam or Iran. ‘Wary’ might be the more appropriate term.

2. Call opponents ‘ignorant’ and persuade them that their viewpoint stems out of #1 and a failure to understand the ‘true’ reality of your position.

Radical Muslims always claim that we don’t understand Islam and the Muslim religion. Non-radicals say that Westerners misinterpret Muslim teachings. Liberals claim that most of America doesn’t understand the nature of discrimination and racism. That our innate views about a woman’s place in the household influences our support of women in the workplace. Or that our innate prejudices against blacks and illegal immigrants inform our policies and laws. By claiming that your opponent doesn’t ‘understand’ your viewpoint, you turn focus away from your platform and onto your opponent’s.

JihadWatch quotes from a lecture series held at San Antonio College and Alamo Community College below. Meneses and Deiri are two of the female speakers on the panel:

Except for extreme instances of disparity, which Meneses said is becoming more rare, Islam has pushed women’s rights sooner and more significantly than Christianity. “If you ask me if there is any feminism in the Muslim world I say … it is in the Muslim world,” Pierre said.

It is difficult for the Western world to see this, Deiri said, because there is very limited understanding of the Islamic religion.

This ignorance causes people to misinterpret some of the external practices of Muslims that Westerners often cite as oppressive, she said, such as the wearing of head scarves by women.

When asked how Christianity and Islam can be so far apart today when they have so much they share in common ancestry, Deiri replied, “In some instances, ignorance allows you to retain power.”

The very next portion of the JihadWatch post (link above) details specific examples that refute this logic:

Rather than regarding women as human beings equal to men, the Qur’an likens a woman to a field (tilth), to be used by a man as he wills: “Your women are a tilth for you (to cultivate) so go to your tilth as ye will” (2:223).

The Qur’an also declares that a woman’s testimony is worth half that of a man: “Get two witnesses, out of your own men, and if there are not two men, then a man and two women, such as ye choose, for witnesses, so that if one of them errs, the other can remind her” (2:282).

It allows men to marry up to four wives, and have sex with slave girls also: “If ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, marry women of your choice, two or three or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly (with them), then only one, or (a captive) that your right hands possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice” (4:3).

It rules that a son’s inheritance should be twice the size of that of a daughter: “Allah (thus) directs you as regards your children’s (inheritance): to the male, a portion equal to that of two females” (4:11).

Worst of all, the Qur’an tells husbands to beat their disobedient wives: “Men are in charge of women, because Allah hath made the one of them to excel the other, and because they spend of their property (for the support of women). So good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them” (4:34).

It allows for marriage to pre-pubescent girls, stipulating that Islamic divorce procedures “shall apply to those who have not yet menstruated” (65:4).

3. Suddenly care about human rights in one case, while continuing to champion terrorist acts in another case.

From Reuters:

Taliban insurgents urged the international community and right groups to stop Afghan President Hamid Karzai approving the execution of about 100 prisoners whose death sentences were approved by the supreme court.

The Taliban, fighting to overthrow the pro-Western Afghan government, have executed dozens of captured troops and civilians since U.S.-led and Afghan forces ousted the Islamist movement in 2001. The Taliban also executed dozens of criminals, often in public, while they were in power from 1996 till 2001.

Human Rights Watch said on Thursday Karzai should refuse to confirm the death penalties of about 100 convicted prisoners because of concerns they had not received a fair trial.

The Taliban’s leadership council said 80 percent of those sentenced to death were members of the Taliban jailed by the government and should not be executed as they had been “detained on charges of fighting for freedom”.

Good to see that the Taliban cares about jihadists receiving a fair trial, but not gay Iranian citizens. Reminds me of loony activists, who protest and make a scene on public property in the name of ‘peace’. Speaking of protests…

4. Protest–Loudly, En Masse and Often.

As Iranians continue to protest over Fitna, there’s usually a protest or two happening every week in Berkeley or San Francisco. Just ask ZombieTime.

Or Hillary Clinton, via Hugh Hewitt’s blog at Townhall:

“We have been less successful in caucuses because it brings out the activist base of the Democratic Party. MoveOn didn’t even want us to go into Afghanistan. I mean, that’s what we’re dealing with. And you know they turn out in great numbers. And they are very driven by their view of our positions, and it’s primarily national security and foreign policy that drives them. I don’t agree with them. They know I don’t agree with them. So they flood into these caucuses and dominate them and really intimidate people who actually show up to support me.”

Protests don’t do much in the end, other than shed light on your group as militant troublemakers.

5. When in doubt, sue.

Take this, from The Astute Bloggers:

The extraordinary lengths to which the sworn enemies of Western Civilization have been attempting to destroy our institutions, our Constitution, and our freedom of Speech–all which have been paid for with the blood of hundreds of thousands of American lives since the 1770’s–are not merely confined to barbaric videotaped killings, rockets and IED’s aimed at innocent civilians, orchestrated rioting, and Global Terrorism in general.

The enemies of freedom are also using rampant Political Correctness as a key weapon in its strategy destroy our institutions by other means, including: threats of violence, vocal and physical intimidation to suppress dissent, sympathetic MSM media coverage, Leftist Academic activism, partisan Democrat politicians, sleazy Trial Lawyers using specious “Hate Speech” lawsuits, and our broken legal system in general. And that’s just in the United States–just ask Mark Steyn how bad things have gotten in Canada… We are not just alluding to an “anomaly” here and there; this is an all-out, coordinated, disciplined assault. As huge as the problem of violent Global Islamist terror is, the Islamofascist “soft war” using Western institutions is a crisis that becomes more acute with each passing year.

Compare this to the thousands of hate speech lawsuits on U.S. soil that take issue with those who deride gays, Jews, women, blacks and all sorts of other minorities.

6. While completing steps 1-5, distance yourself from your cause and champion actions that will indirectly benefit the cause.

“Al-Zawahiri Calls On Muslims To Turn Mosques, Schools, Factories, Universities into ‘Centers of Support for Jihad,’” from MEMRI (thanks to LGF):

On April 18, 2008, Al-Ikhlas and other Islamist websites posted an audio message by Al-Zawahiri, produced by Al-Sahab, titled “Five Years after the Invasion of Iraq; Decades of Oppression by the Tyrant.” Al-Zawahiri states that the Democrats in the U.S. are deceiving their voters when they promise to withdraw U.S. troops from Iraq by forming an understanding with Iran. This understanding, he says, is meant to allow the Americans to focus on fighting Al-Qaeda and the Taliban in Pakistan and Afghanistan, but will in fact only “only serve Iran’s interests in the region and add fuel to the fire.”Al-Zawahiri also discusses what he calls the Muslims’ longstanding economic crisis and political oppression at the hands of the Arab regimes, particularly the Egyptian government. He calls upon the Muslims to take matters into their own hands, saying: “Rights are not granted, but are claimed by force.”

He concludes by urging Muslims to take to the streets, and to turn their mosques, schools, factories and universities into centers of support for jihad and resistance.

As far as liberals that utilize this step, we need look no further than the Democratic primary campaign.
