Joy Behar: Pro-Lifers “Against Women”

If you're new here and like what you read, subscribe to my RSS feed. Thank you for visiting!

She’s done it again. Joy Behar’s words have an inimitable knack for lingering in my thoughts long after she’s spoken, her nonsensical rants and one-liners tirelessly rattling around my brain until I’m annoyed enough to give in and post about them.

My latest annoyance? This, via NewsBusters:

BEHAR: I said to [McCain] off the camera, I said to him “listen how can you be against Roe v. Wade? You can not turn on women like that.”

HASSELBECK: Why is that turning on women?

BEHAR: Because it’s against women and you know it.

No, Joy, an anti-abortion stance is only against some women: those who support a woman’s choice to abort her fetus. Many of these women view abortion as a free pass, an operation that’s their perpetual ‘Get Out of Jail Free’ card–actually, nearly half of them.

The message pro-choice activists convey is one of entitlement: “I made an irresponsible decision, fix it for me.” With this attitude, any threat to their ‘right to choose’ is suddenly personal, akin to censorship or violation of basic freedoms.

Behar, I resent you for presuming to speak for all women and continuing to propel this “You owe me” attitude. Let’s inspire women instead to take charge of their own lives and responsibility for their own decisions, good and bad.
