VIENNA, Austria —  The Austrian man accused of imprisoning his daughter for 24 years and fathering her seven children likely will face a murder charge that could bring a life sentence, the Daily Mail reported Friday.

DNA results showed Josef Fritzl was the father of his daughter Elisabeth Fritzl’s six children, but the 73-year-old reportedly neglected a seventh child, who died, and threw the body in the incinerator.

Josef Fritzl allegedly failed to get help for the newborn, a twin named Michael who was just 3 days old when he died in the dungeon 12 years ago, the Mail reported.

“It needs to be proved that the baby would have survived had he got proper medical attention,” said Gerhard Sedlacek, a spokesman for the prosecutor’s office, after a 15-minute hearing at which prosecutors detailed their plans for investigation of the case.

“That carries a life sentence — and life means life; if convicted, he will spend the rest of his days behind bars.”

“American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest is reportedly in talks to take over Larry King’s talk show.

Sources close to Seacrest told MediaBistro.com’s Fishbowl L.A. that he’s in “talks” to take over for Larry King on CNN, but added it’s unlikely it would happen because Seacrest has so many lucrative jobs already.

In addition to “American Idol,” Seacrest works for E! News and KIIS-FM in Los Angeles. But the source said he could definitely handle the gig.

“His background is in being a generalist,” the source said.” He’s known for his work with celebrities, but he came up through mass radio. He could pull it off.”

I was hacked yesterday and today in a deluge of spam links that halted my blog feeds as I scrambled through lines of PHP code to find the error. All is found and fixed, and I’m back on track, albeit a day or so behind. Wordpress bloggers: What do you use to safeguard your blog? I installed Bad Behavior and Digo Watch in addition to Akismet, which I already had running. Am I missing any?

I think any parent can vouch for as much. I think Dana Carvey had it right. Parenthood is actually this evil little club, and once you get into the Parenthood Club, all you do is entice others to join in your misery by proclaiming what a pain-free joy children are.

Marriage has been shown, through research, to be an unending source of joy, a Harvard professor said at an Australian conference this week.

But introduce children into the relationship and that joy may plummet, according to a report from the Australian Associated Press.

“Figures show that married people are in almost every way happier than unmarried people — whether they are single, divorced, cohabiting,” Harvard University psychology professor Daniel Gilbert told the Happiness and its Causes conference in Sydney.

“Married people live longer, married people earn more money per capita, married people have more sex and enjoy it more,” AAP quoted Gilbert as saying.

But, despite the belief that children are the apples of our eyes, they actually can have a negative influence on marriages, according to the report. And more kids equals more sadness, Gilbert said.

U.S. and European studies show that married couples’ happiness spikes when they’re expecting a baby but once that baby arrives, it plummets.

And forget about empty nest syndrome. The low point comes when children are between the ages of 12 and 16 and happiness only starts to recover once they fly the coop, Gilbert said.
